Divine Creation Under Siege: What God Built and What Satan Seeks to Destroy

In a world filled with chaos and moral ambiguity, it’s easy to feel like there’s an unseen battle raging around us. As believers, we know this isn’t just a feeling—it’s a spiritual reality described throughout the Bible. God, in His infinite wisdom and love, created a perfect universe teeming with beauty, purpose, and harmony. Yet, from the very beginning, Satan has been on a mission to corrupt, distort, and ultimately destroy these divine works. Among these are humanity in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27), marriage and family (Genesis 2:24), faith and our relationship with God (Isaiah 43:7), and the sanctity of life (Psalm 139:13-14). Drawing from Scripture, let’s explore in depth two key creations of God that the enemy is actively targeting—the earth and its purity, along with truth and moral order—and why understanding this can strengthen our faith and resolve.

The Earth and Its Purity

God spoke the cosmos into existence, declaring it “very good” (Genesis 1:1, 31). The earth was a paradise of abundance, balance, and beauty, meant for humanity to tend and enjoy.

As the “prince of this world” (John 12:31), Satan revels in polluting and exploiting creation. His wrath intensifies as his time shortens, as Revelation 12:12 warns: “But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” Environmental degradation, wars over resources, and disregard for stewardship all bear his mark, turning God’s gift into a battleground. This includes the escalating impacts of climate change driven by unchecked emissions, which threaten the delicate balance God established.

Yet, in our attempts to “fix” these issues, we must beware of human hubris masquerading as solutions—like carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). This technology seeks to capture carbon dioxide from the air and bury it underground, but if God, in His infinite wisdom, intended for CO2 to be sequestered beneath the earth, wouldn’t He have placed it there already? CO2 is a natural, life-giving part of God’s perfect design—essential for photosynthesis, plant growth, and the very cycles that sustain creation (Genesis 1:11-12). Mankind’s insistence on capturing it, compressing it, and forcing it underground reveals a dangerous arrogance: the belief that we know better than the Creator who spoke the heavens and earth into existence. This is the same pride that led to the Fall (Genesis 3:5-6) and to the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:4)—humanity claiming wisdom that belongs only to God. Satan delights in fueling this delusion, convincing us that technology can outsmart divine order. But Scripture is clear: “Claiming to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22). Instead of humble stewardship, we chase man-made schemes that risk leaks, seismic disruption, and massive financial burdens—especially on the poor—while distracting us from the real remedy: repentance, simpler living, and trust in the God who “upholds the universe by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:3). True care for creation begins with acknowledging His sovereignty, not presuming to redesign it.

Scripture promises renewal: a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells (Revelation 21:1). Until then, we’re called to be faithful caretakers, resisting the enemy’s destructive schemes through prayer and action.

Truth and Moral Order

God’s creation rests on truth; He is the God who cannot lie (Psalm 31:5), and Jesus is “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Moral order flows from His character, providing clarity and justice.

Satan, the father of lies, masquerades as an angel of light to deceive (2 Corinthians 11:14; John 8:44). He twists truth into relativism, fueling confusion and moral decay in society. From fake news to ethical compromises, his influence erodes foundations. But believers are equipped with the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14) to discern and proclaim what’s right. In exposing lies with God’s Word, we participate in His redemptive work.

Standing Firm in the Battle

This spiritual warfare isn’t abstract—it’s playing out in our daily lives, headlines, and hearts. Satan may rage, but he is defeated; Christ has already won the victory (Colossians 2:15). As we recognize these targeted creations, let’s commit to protecting them through prayer, obedience, and bold witness.
